When Albany College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences decided to change its name in 2008, we were engaged to develop its new logo and branding. From the multiple concepts we provided, the College selected the logo that features the pediment of the school’s signature structure, which served as the central campus building since its opening in 1927 and is an enduring symbol of the institution’s long history. The icon is combined with a wordmark that clearly identifies the College’s new name, but segments school’s the original title to maintain emphasis on Albany College of Pharmacy. To provide flexibility when using the logotype, three different configurations were developed. Usage guidelines and design direction for the College’s communications were outlined in a style guide that included logo configurations, colors, typography, and applications.
