When the Erie Canalway National Heritage Corridor launched its new fitness challenge, we were tasked with developing a sub-site within the organization's existing website that would include its own navigation and provide an easy way for participants to register, track their miles toward their selected mileage goal, and upload a photo finish when they completed their challenge.
Registration needed to be specific for individuals, groups, and companies/organizations and needed to allow participants to track multiple challenges (in the event they were feeling really ambitious!). To make the process simple, after their initial sign up, participants receive an email with a log in URL to access their own profile page. They use that link every time they want to log miles, so there are no passwords to remember! When participants complete their mileage goals, they finalize their challenge and can upload a photo taken during their journey. They then receive a congratulatory message and are sent their mileage badge, sticker, and certificate of completion in the mail.
The Canalway Challenge campiagn was recognized with a 2019 MARCOM award for integrated campaigns and a 2020 ADDY Award for cross platform integrated campaigns.
